The Northern California Irish Wolfhound Club was formed by a very harmonious group of Irish Wolfhound owners in 1974. We all worked together as we watched the Club grow and grow. Whether it was a Fun Match or a Lure Course, help was always available and good sportsmanship was the name of the game.
On May 16, 1978 the American Kennel Club sent us a letter stating that, after reviewing their records, the NCIWC was eligible to conduct formal AKC sanctioned events. We had very successful, well-attended Specialty Matches while AKC representatives looked on and gave us good reports.
In September of 1982 we held our first Specialty Show at the El Rancho Hotel in Santa Rosa. What a great day!!! Since then we have added ASFA Lure Coursing and Obedience Trials to our annual weekend, and will now offer Rally Trials.
In 2006, we celebrated our 25th Specialty.
